We partied

Well, I had been anticipating turning fourty since I turned 39. I was anxious and also excited about the milestone with a bit of sadness about not fully appreciating family moments along the way. There were parties that weren’t attended and promises not kept in the name of “I’ve got too much work to do.” This milestone got me to think about where values are placed and what I need to change.

We also had a super fun party!

There was country music, fajitas, borracho beans and much more. The kids ran around the place having a ball. It was the best kind of celebration. Thank you to all who took the time to come and celebrate with us!

Also, turns out Holly and I bought each other the same birthday gift. Seriously- we did not know what the other had planned. This is what we bought.

We went to church the next morning and Bill sang a beautiful song. Then we had a birthday party before my Brother had to leave town.

Love from all us,

Happy Birthday -Hot Mess

A friend of ours makes these delicious and fun cakes! I saw this picture of a cake ( which I wish was mine) on her Instagram feed ( handle: lpaigeh ).  If you live anywhere near south Texas you really must try her white cake. It’s the most tasty, moist and just the right amount of sugary white cake.  Our brother thinks there is some almond extract in there somewhere, but whatever is in it, it works!

So, I saw that “Happy Birthday Hot Mess” cake and thought of my Twinner. It’s our birthday week, and we are going to be 39 in a few days! I have to repeat what our office manager told my gynecologist ( it’s a small town-it always gets back to you) “The Twins will always be teenagers!”

I really feel like we live young at heart, but Holly, if I ever see you looking hopeless or draggin rear -I’m going to remind you, your too young to act that way!

Happy Birthday Twinner ( you, hot mess you)

Anniversaries & Birthdays

Last week was full of days that beg us to recall the past. It started with our Anniversary. Bill and I have been married for 11 years. Praise God is mostly what I want to say (yell really) about that. I’m so thankful for all the expectations that we don’t have to meet and for moments that we didn’t even imagine could happen. We are living a life of love and I hope most that God is pleased.

Bill, we have made some blindingly cute babies, who keep us laughing and on our toes! I’m thankful that we are friends and partners in this story.

After our anniversary came our twin birthday. Holly, every year that comes, aging seems like knowledge gained ( not wrinkles gained) and understanding realized! I challenge you here in front of all the 12 readers of this blog, we are going to run a half marathon this year and do something downright scary for God. Let’s do it!

I’m crazy proud of you, Holly.

I’m crazy proud of you, Bill.

I love you, S.  I love you, B.  I love you,R.
