Green Friday, it’s all the daffodil stems shooting up!

February in Mississippi is highlighted by the glorious beginning of daffodil season.  Right now we are just at the beginning and the pretty green shoots are starting to push their way through the brown, dead grass.

The green addition to the drab landscape has pushed the color green to the forefront of my mind.  (I’m sure I’ll do a “yellow” post in a few weeks when they start blooming).

Happy Friday, Friends!

E-Design Work, Kitchen Reno

*Steph here*

A week or so ago I let our Instagram and Facebook friends know that e-design would be the perfect gift for Christmas.

Here is the first e-design from the pre-Christmas invite.

I really enjoyed working on this project. To confirm the new kitchen layout we showed several options before this option was chosen.

I particularly love the incorporation of a fireplace in the new dining room.

If you have questions about e-design you can email

Storefront / Retail Design

*Holly Here*

This is my most popular pin on Pinterest. Bookstore Storefront Pin

Storefronts I’ve always wanted to help design a new store space for a client. Making an entry and view lite into a retail space is a key element to draw and retain shoppers. If I’m dreaming here, I might as well say, a bookstore or coffee shop would be fun.

Here are some other great storefronts.

Selling our house has got me thinking about the next project

*Steph here*

We are in the process of selling our house – so I’ve started thinking about the next house without any vital information like what/where/how….

It’s still fun to dream in pictures and because this is a dream board, it doesn’t have to be thought out. I’m just showing the images that made me feel homey and happy this morning – so come on in and get dreamy!

Several have asked what color I think this front door is- based on this picture and my screen, it looks like Sherwin Williams, Kilkenny,SW6740 in a gloss finish

I hope this post has got you dreaming too!

House Renovation, McAllen, Texas

Holly and I designed the renovation of this ranch house in McAllen, Texas. The Owners (happen to be our Brother & Sister-in-Law) liked their home but wanted a facelift facing the street, kitchen renovation and an addition for a greatroom and master bedroom suit.  This was a fun project because my brother and sister-in-law are possibly the most trusting and kind clients. Also, they love pretty wallpaper and beautiful casework, so we were in heaven! We later came back and helped with the design of their pool and pergola.

We hope you like seeing these photos of our work. It is a beautiful home and we love getting to visit!

Good work by Kate Marker Interiors and Grand Tradition Homes

I ran across this house on Instagram  and just had to share it. This is the designer’s own home ( Kate Marker).  The construction company was Grand Tradition Homes.

Antique shutters, painted(I think these were limed)brick, and light stained wood are so nice together.

Railings and Codes, oh my!

Yesterday afternoon I was working with a colleague on designing a new ramp railing for a historic courthouse. There are plenty of railing types already on the project, so the challenge is to add a handrail that compliments the existing and really kind of goes away too.

So, went to Pinterest to get so ideas flowing. Want to see some? ( *many of these do not meet the code requirements that we are working under, but they help get the ideas coming.)

Candace’s New Den – progress

We are wrapping up Candace’s new den.  We just have the sliding door to install, artwork to make/hang and to hang the curtains.

So, as a recap, this is where we started.

In progress

We chose the gray color option in the wood look tile and it pairs nicely with the tan rug and other elements.  (the lighting was not installed yet, so sorry for the drab light effects).

So, now I need to create the artwork for the short wall, and then upload final pics.  This is my inspiration for her artwork, but in soothing, beachy colors.

Good Houseplans Added

I’ve added some other good houseplans to the “houseplan” page.

Historic House Plan (sorry I don’t have the particulars, but you can find it also on my Pinterest Page)

This beaut could be re-planned to make two bedroom out of the 12′ x 20.5′ bedroom space upstairs.  The Library could also be made into a downstairs Master if a bathroom addition was provided.  I think this is house is so breezy and tropical. It reminds me of a few of the houses still left on the Shary Estate in Mission, Texas.
