Green Friday, it’s all the daffodil stems shooting up!

February in Mississippi is highlighted by the glorious beginning of daffodil season.  Right now we are just at the beginning and the pretty green shoots are starting to push their way through the brown, dead grass.

The green addition to the drab landscape has pushed the color green to the forefront of my mind.  (I’m sure I’ll do a “yellow” post in a few weeks when they start blooming).

Happy Friday, Friends!

E-Design Work, Kitchen Reno

*Steph here*

A week or so ago I let our Instagram and Facebook friends know that e-design would be the perfect gift for Christmas.

Here is the first e-design from the pre-Christmas invite.

I really enjoyed working on this project. To confirm the new kitchen layout we showed several options before this option was chosen.

I particularly love the incorporation of a fireplace in the new dining room.

If you have questions about e-design you can email

Storefront / Retail Design

*Holly Here*

This is my most popular pin on Pinterest. Bookstore Storefront Pin

Storefronts I’ve always wanted to help design a new store space for a client. Making an entry and view lite into a retail space is a key element to draw and retain shoppers. If I’m dreaming here, I might as well say, a bookstore or coffee shop would be fun.

Here are some other great storefronts.

Keig, Scotland

*Holly here

Today a colleague showed me pictures that the resident of Forbes Castle in Keig, Scotland sent her when her family inquired about their genealogy – Forbes Clan. We immediately looked for the Castle on google maps and while driving around (virtually) we found this beautiful church.

*I may have searched the cost of flights to Scotland just after finding the Church.*

Happy Weekend,

This year Christmas feels different. First, we will get to have a real Christmas tree this year and I am so excited about it. But that’s not the only thing, I’m finally studying Advent.

This past Sunday was the first day of advent and our Church served communion, it felt purposeful and special. It also helped that Chad and I got a chuckle when Birdie “yummed” audibly when she ate the bread.

Steph and I are reading through a couple of resources and we wanted to invite you jump in and study along with us.

  • She Reads Truth – Advent Study

You can follow along on their website for free or download the app and purchase the study for a few bucks.

Friend Baby

Our friend is about to have her baby. I walked across the street yesterday afternoon to borrow a wrench and she was counting. Counting the intervals between pains!

I wanted her to have one of those cute door hanger things, but it was extremely last minute. Not sure why I don’t plan ahead better!

Well, I decided to go ahead and make one myself. I used my Rhonna app on my phone then printed it. ( Rinnah is holding it up in this picture)

I’m looking across the street right now and her car is gone. She’s either at church (which we skipped because of kid sniffles) or at the hospital.

I can’t wait to hold her sweet baby girl.

She went to church! I think it’s start and stop for the pains. So we are all in that terribly uncomfortable ( mostly her) stage of waiting.

Selling our house has got me thinking about the next project

*Steph here*

We are in the process of selling our house – so I’ve started thinking about the next house without any vital information like what/where/how….

It’s still fun to dream in pictures and because this is a dream board, it doesn’t have to be thought out. I’m just showing the images that made me feel homey and happy this morning – so come on in and get dreamy!

Several have asked what color I think this front door is- based on this picture and my screen, it looks like Sherwin Williams, Kilkenny,SW6740 in a gloss finish

I hope this post has got you dreaming too!

Sunday thoughts

*Steph here*

Today was eventful and it’s only 10:30 am.

Our neighbor’s pup pinned one of our chickens. It’s our fault, I didn’t put them up last night. Our neighbor was trying to call his dog off while I ran through the backyard in my pajamas!

I stood between the dog and my maimed chicken. Rinnah asked if the pup got by me while I was trying to save her-“no way, I said! I’m a county girl.”

I’m now all dressed up and waiting at the Methodist Church to attend services with Holly while my Mom takes the kids to our church ( they really didn’t want to miss).

Are you enjoying this beautiful Sunday?

I’ve been encouraged lately by a few books and podcasts – I thought you might enjoy too!

The first is a new podcast by Emily P. Feeman, author of Simply Tuesdays called The Next Right Thing.  The Next Right Thing Podcast

The description: For the second-guessers, the chronically hesitant, or anyone who suffers from decision fatigue, best-selling author and host Emily P. Freeman helps create a little space for your soul to breathe so you can discern your next right thing in love. Because out of the thousands of decisions you make everyday, chances are a few of them threaten to keep you up at night. If you’re in a season of transition, waiting, general fogginess or if you’ve ever searched “how to make a decision” on the internet, then this podcast is for you.

Also, her voice is so soothing!

The next is She Reads Truth

They are a fantastic resource, with an iphone app, Bible Studies for all the family and a new Study Bible.  They recently took a trip to the Holy Land; I followed along ( in their back pocket)  through instagram and loved it!

Their instagram profiles:

Amanda WilliamsRaechel Myers & She Reads Truth

I was so encouraged by their book I read/listened to it twice (I listen to a lot of books on work trips) She Reads Truth Book

I also listened to this book twice by Shauna Niequist: Present over Perfect.  I love her open and honest way.  Some of her other books are Bread and Wine & Cold Tangerines

This sweet video of Bird singing out on the choir room piano reminded me of God’s love for us, because if I get joy from watching her, how much more does he enjoy us singing out to him unguarded and fully ourselves?

“But Jesus called to them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Luke 18:16

I learn often from watching her unabashed passion and joy!

Blessings friends.
